A few more pieces of art work

Decided to use pretty colours.

"Pink Chestnut" - August 2012

"Purple Bay" - August 2012

Not the most inventive titles, I know but hopefully that'll come in time :)

I read that you should properly date your pieces and title each piece, even if it is titled "untitled". Hence the dates and titles.

A Little Charcoal Grey

Today I am working on creating a few charcoal pieces, I'm producing them to provide my etsy shop with photograph examples that aren't commissioned pieces.

This is a sweet little grey Welsh Section D that I will sell as a framed piece at some point.

How to take a Photo in Preparation for a Commision

Thought I'd pop this page into my blog to direct people on how to take a good photograph for my paintings or sketches, using my own little gaggle of pets.

Tip 1)Use Natural light. Theres nothing worse than a flash making them over shiney, losing detail.

Tip 2)Get down to their height rather than taking the photo from above them.

Compared with...

Tip 3)Ears Forward.(not my horse, he just always tries to eat my camera)

Tip 4)An open mouth on dogs gives them a cute smile.

Tip 5)And if your animal is too wriggly and will not let you take a photo, a sleeping animal is just as cute as an awake one.

Another First - Gecko Sketch!

And another reptilian first at that.

Attempted my first gecko sketch, and my first square portrait.

A bit of a gloomy day, but the photo shows up none the less.

Reptile Sketch

So today I completed my first reptile sketch, I have drawn snakes before for my Medusa piece but not in graphite(pictures of which will be coming once I figure out how to photograph a 10 metre roll of paper, I'm personally thinking a slideshow type, where individual panels are photographed).

This is a little A5 sketch of a little brown house snake.
